Professor Lan Vu is a medical doctor and social epidemiologist. She had served as the Chair of the Faculty of Fundamental Science at Hanoi University of Public Health and also as the Director of the Department of Epidemiology for more than 12 years. She maintains her own research portfolio, focusing on the social epidemiology of HIV, non-communicable diseases, and tobacco control. She has published over 50 papers in international peer-reviewed journals on public health issues in Vietnam. Additionally, in the past 10 years, she has been a Principal Investigator (PI) or a Co-Investigator (Co-I)
on over 30 research projects. Professor Lan Vu has developed strong collaborations with health stakeholders in Vietnam, serving as a technical advisor for multiple national surveys. Currently, she is the PI for an MRC UK ASEAN network project on AI-Enabled Healthcare Research and Innovation using wearable technologies and Co-I on two NIH grants for implementation research. She is also leading the project using Vietnam Health Insurance data over a 6-year period to examine the overall burden of disease, key cost drivers of different healthcare services, and top prevalent diseases by geography in Vietnam.
